Day 7: small spaces and lost things

Family Camp: The morning routine is breakfast then 9am family worship.  Adults break for their speakers and the boys go to the kids activities. They are having fun with their small groups and a bit of boys vs. girls friendly competition.
After lunch our plan was to drive back to West Glacier Park for the boys to get their Junior Park Ranger badges and go for a bike ride...a simple afternoon in the sunshine. Heather is disappointed that we won't get to explore the East side of the park in the time that we have. Before we can go, we need to find our 7 day park pass. All four of us searched the RV together for the receipt which is stapled to a piece of paper. Frustration is setting in and tensions are getting higher. The walls feel like they are closing in. How hard is it to find a missing thing in a small space?? Kevin found the receipt in a pocket of an empty backpack in the cupboard. Yeah! Yippee!! We are on the road for our 15 minute drive to the park. After we flash our receipt at the park ranger window, we drive to the small historic park town of Apgar. We attempt to park the 33 ft RV in a small open muddy parking lot. Kevin is always the driver and Heather is standing in the parking lot waving her arms and saying "Back it up". We thought we were good until the Park Ranger pulled in next to us and had a brief conversation with Kevin. We were back in the RV and driving back to the Apgar Transit Center, which has a huge parking lot that fits RVs. Ahhh life in a RV - things don't happen quickly.  That's okay it's only 1/2 mile away - we can bike over. We parked the RV and grabbed a few items when Kevin asked the question "where the bike lock key? I set it right here" pointing to the 2 inch counter space in front of the sink.  And so the search began... The funny thing is Heather always puts all keys in the same cupboard right by the door/steps as you enter. Then Kevin would say "I set it on the counter."  Heather would remind everyone living in this small space "to put things back when you are finished. Items can not be left out because when you drive the RV they will fly off the counter!" Ahhh the joys of living in an RV.  After searching the entire space again and attempting to break the lock, we decided to walk the 1/2 mile to the Visitor Center.

The highlight of the day was having Park Ranger Claudette swear in the boys as Junior Park Rangers.
We skipped rocks on the shore of Lake McDonald. We walked around the shops and stopped for pressed pennies.
Then we each got ice cream cones! Heather is trying to be in more pictures vs. always behind the camera. Here's today's result:
What's more important in a photo: quality or centered or smiling people?  Hopefully by now you are laughing as you read today's post. Seconds after this photo was taken Riley handed the iPhone back to Heather. Heather tried to look at the photo while holding everyone's "stuff" and the ice cream plopped off the cone and into the sidewalk. A classic summer mom moment! When you are in the wilderness, you just pick it up and eat it!!
On our walk back to the RV parking lot, we saw 3 small deer jump right across the path.

Current misplaced items that can not be found in the RV:
1. Green water bottle
2. Bike lock key
3. iPod charger
